All Your Affiliate and Ad Network Report At One Place: Android App

As bloggers and online markers we keep checking our affiliate and ad network earnings report on a daily basis (or atleast once every 3-4 days). I use 3 ad networks and 2 affiliate sites. These sites, sometimes, tend to take a lot of time to load. Then I need to log into my account and then retrieve my earnings (and other data) after digging deep into their User Interface.

Your data is stored inside your mobile device and is not transmitted to any server. When you access any affiliate or ad network via API key, those keys will be saved on your device and won’t be saved on any remote server. All your data is yours. We do not access it, nor do we sell it. Your privacy is our priority. Your data is yours and we never access it. We can’t even look at it, as its on your device.

Hope this app saves you a lot of time and effort over time, and helps you do more of what you love – your work.

“I am very impressed with the app( ), I think its a great idea and since publishers work with multiple networks they can save time by accessing and managing all their account details via one app. As a network this would be a good value addition we can offer to our publishers for free. I would recommend publishers to use this useful app and take advantage of the many benefits it offers. And yes the developers have taken care of all security aspect and assured me personally that ‘It is 100% safe and no one else can access user information from it except the user himself’.” – Irfan Danawala, Co-Founder DigitalSamadhan

All About ‘Matched Content Unit’: Google Adsense

In 2015, Google launched Matched Content Unit to help increase user engagement and time spent on the site by promoting relevant content present within the site. According to Googles own research based on the real-time data this matched content unit increased number of pages viewed by 9% and the time spent on site by 10%.

1. You can’t cross promote your articles/contents from 2 different sites. Matched content recommendations that are generated for each site will be internal to that site.
2. Matched Content units generate recommendations from pages that have Google ads or Matched content units on them.

Matched content units work on mobile, tablet, and desktop and are mostly responsive(the images and text within the unit content) in nature. If your articles do not contain images then text only format will be displayed.

Eligibility for Matched content unit

Eligibility What it means
Not currently eligible to use Matched content Your site doesn’t yet meet minimum requirements for traffic volume and number of unique pages.
Eligible to use Matched content Your site meets minimum requirements for traffic volume and number of unique pages.
Eligible to use Matched content and show ads in between recommendations Your site meets minimum requirements for traffic volume and number of unique pages, and it can be well monetized.

It has 2 criteria, minimum requirements for traffic volume and number of unique pages. The exact number for traffic is not known but we believe a site with as low as 400-500 unique visits per day is eligible provided it has enough unique pages – because these matched content units must show relevant related content without which it is of not much use to the visitors.

Check eligibility

Log into your adsense account. Go to Settings -> My Sites -> Matched Content.

Here it shows the domains which work well with Matched Content. You can create a Matched Content unit in My Ads section and use this list to see which domains will show good recommendations from pages on that domain.

Add Matched Content To Your Site
Go to MyAds, click on New ad unit button.

Select ‘Matched Content‘. To your right hand site you get options to customize the look and feel of your matched content unit. Here you can also opt-in or opt-out of ‘Monetize with Ads’, under Ad options settings.

Next you can also set its font family, title and background color. You can also set the width and height of the matched content unit or else select responsive unit. Save & Get Code. Paste the code inside your website / blog wherever you want this ‘Matched Content Unit’ to appear.

The Best RSS Reader App

We all loved Google Reader to add, read and keep track of our favorite sites / blogs online. Consuming our favorite content was easy and clutter free all those years we had Google Reader with us. But unfortunately Google stopped the service and many went on to the extent of filing online petition for Google to reopen it.

Our RSS Reader on Google Play

What is a Google Reader?
Google Reader was an RSS/Atom feed aggregator operated by Google. It was created in early 2005 by Google engineer Chris Wetherell and launched on October 7, 2005, through Google Labs. Google Reader grew in popularity to support a number of apps which used it as a platform for serving news and information to people.

What is RSS feed?
RSS (Rich Site Summary; originally RDF Site Summary; often called Really Simple Syndication) uses a family of standard web feed formats to publish frequently updated information: blog entries, news headlines, audio, video. … RSS feeds enable publishers to syndicate data automatically.

rss feed reader

Over years I’ve used many different feed readers and many of them do a decent job. But so many are using web page scrapers to fetch the content and display inside the app, which I do not feel as ethical way of doing things. If an author is providing the feed, that means he would like to share his content that way. But no one actually likes scrapping of their pages and stealing the content.

I always feel minimalistic reading apps bring sanity to the already cluttered world of information. I mean, there is an overwhelming amount of information out in the web and it gets distractive very quickly. We start by reading some quotes, we end up on Facebook, spend some hours liking commenting on photos and end up on YouTube watching few dozen videos and then we realize we did not get much of our works done. Spent precious hours browsing the web carelessly.

With minimalistic approach, we can concentrate only on one thing at a time and there will be less clutter and hence we can consume the content with sanity and without getting distracted by the bells and whistles.

Our RSS Reader app
Finally I decided to develop a simple minimalistic rss feed reading application – specially for WordPress(though works with any other sites) sites. I use it for consuming my favorite sites content online. Today I decided to make it public via Google Playstore, hoping it would help some of you too.

RSS Reader on Google Play

How does it work?

Feed Page
Add your favorite websites feed directly using RSS feed address or Search and add. You can even collectively subscribe to certain topics.

Home Page
We show 4 articles each from your favorite sites on the home page. If you need more you can visit Feed Page and get more.

You also get Bookmarking facility and settings where you can take backup of your bookmarks and feed list and also change device using options present there.

Hope you enjoy using the app. And if you like it, please give 5 star rating and comment on RSS Reader ( Google Playstore ) page.

Personalized Payment Page: PayPal.Me

PayPal has been widely used by freelancers and other businesses to send and receive money. Over years many such payment gateways have emerged and still PayPal is a prominent tool for most people.

Personalized Payment Page
Now you can set up a personal page(Payment Profile Page) to receive money from your clients. Visit PayPal.Me and create a username and upload a profile picture, so that your clients know who they are sending money to. Make sure the username(vanity URL) reflects your business(my personal view) For example: My username is technotip which reflects my business name. If you’ve built or trying to build personal branding, then go with your name(and sure name, maybe) Ex: book authors.

Payment: One click payment
Once you create your payment page, you can append the amount along with the URL of your page and send it to your client. For Example: My page is at PayPal.Me/Technotip If I want to charge my client with $25, I would append it with the URL like this PayPal.Me/Technotip/25 and send it to him/her. Client can click the link and pay using his/her credit card or debit card or his/her PayPal account.

Why Personalized Page?
Some times we might type wrong email address / PayPal id and send money – this leads to days of back and forth email exchange to get the money back. I’ve an email ID with .org extension but sometimes(even after explicitly specifying it to clients) clients send money to .com extension and think I got the money. We need to bug PayPal support team to get back the money and channel it in right direction. With Personalized Payment Pages I can simply send the link and they can pay me in few seconds without any hassle.

Google Allo – smart messaging app

Google finally launched its Google Allo mobile app which uses Google Assistant, a feature that Google announced at the I/O developers conference. Its interesting to see how Google will acquire any considerable market share which is already filled with popular messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, SnapChat, WeChat and its own Hangout!

Google Assistant: USP of Google Allo
While we chat with a friend(one-to-one) or when in a group chat, (in the same chat window) we can ask the assistant for the nearest pizza store or find restaurants nearby – just mention @google and ask your question and Google Assistant will do its best to help you out. Remember, Google Assistant takes time to learn about you so that it can answer you accurately.

Google Allo Features
1. You can chat with Google Assistant and its artificial intelligence will try to give you natural looking answers and search results for things you ask for.
2. Once you start using Google Assistant, it’ll learn about you and try to give answers you can appreciate.
3. You can form groups for chat and share videos, photographs etc.
4. You can edit pics and draw random things before sending it.
5. Based on your location Google Assistant will help you locate nearby restaurants, ATM, Banks etc.
6. You can emphasis words by making it capital and increasing its size.
7. Lot of Emoji and stickers to express!
8. Predicts your replies and has texts showing up before you type anything – you can simply select these replies.
9. Other features include but not limited to incognito mode, WhisperShout(text-capitalizing, increasing font size), Ink(doodle the image), end-to-end encryption to name some.

Google has launched Google Allo to both android and iOS platforms simultaneously. You can follow the link below and download.

Google Play Store
Apple App Store

Over time Google would want to enable developers to integrate their tool/software with Google assistant bot and help Google Allo users to get information from your software/bot straight into their personal smart messaging app. For example, if you have pizza store and user types in your pizza store along with name of the pizza he or she must be presented with the price and availability right inside Google Allo.

Going forward we can see some stiff competition from Facebook Messenger(which will also be enabled with AI shortly) and Google Allo. All I can say is, give developers more facility and you’re already a step ahead in the game, step on their foot(like Twitter did), and you’ll feel the heat.

Let us know what you think about Google Allo.

Why I use Infolinks?

Few years back I had interviewed Infolinks on this blog and it has maintained its reputation and has grown even strong in the past couple of years – Lets explore how in this blog post.

Checkout Infolinks

Big advantage over Google Adsense – angular.js
We all agree that Google Adsense is the best ad network and is #1 in providing the best revenue share to its publishers and works best for most advertisers. But the biggest drawback and shame for Google is, Google Adsense doesn’t work on sites which are developed from Google’s own angular. Yes, I know we can write directives and make Adsense ads work on these sites, but read adsense policy carefully, it violets Adsense terms to make it work on ajax sites.

With Infolinks, there is no hacks, there is no directives – simply copy the javascript snippt into index file and you’re done. You can control the type of ad to show on your pages via Infolinks dashboard. Simple.

Note: We’ve a good competitor for Google Adsense, which I’ll mention in my upcoming post. Stay tuned. – You’ll love it. I’m serious.

Infolinks is the best adnetwork for websites built with Google’s angular.js

Infolinks Products / ad types

Simply turn ON and OFF the services(products) like – intext, infold, intag, inframe, inscreen, inarticle(beta) from inside your infolinks dashboard and it’ll reflect on your site(s).

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

intext: InText highlights keywords and every time a visitor hovers over them, a related ad appears.

infold: InFold displays ads relevant to what your users are searching for, while infusing another SEO layer to your site.

intag: It displays relevant keywords list at the bottom of the page and shows ads once the mouse is hovered upon the keyword. Looks somewhat similar to Adsense link ads.

inframe: Based on your website’s category, InFrame will display attractive banner ads in the margins of your website’s pages.

inscreen: InScreen, an interstitial ad, is driven both by user intent and website content, resulting in well-timed display ads for your website.

Infolinks and Adsense together?
I get this asked many times, so I want to clarify this in this blog post – yes, you can use Infolinks and adsense together on same blog / site and it does not violate either adsense nor Infolinks policy.

Customer Support
I’ve to tell this – Infolinks has one of the best customer support. You need not be their premium publisher or someone getting set number of earnings or traffic, they still treat you like their best publisher. Top Earner
MobiSphere is a discounts / coupons website which is built using angular. I simply copied Infolinks ads to the index page and the ads started immediately on all my pages. No hacks, no directives.

Strong Adsense Alternative?
Even though Infolinks is a very good adnetwork, it is not an alternative to adsense yet. I can say its a complimentary ad network that you can use along with Google’s Adsense.

Infolinks takes some time to learn about your website content and the traffic segment your blog/website receives. You need to give some time before you can see better ads and revenue for your site via InfoLinks. You can always mail their support team to ask what you can do better to get good revenue.

Pro Tip:
If you’re using intag Infolinks ads, then make sure to turn on the ‘Revenue Booster’, it’ll increase the click-through-rates and hence your revenue.

SignUp for Infolinks.

Ads Turn ON / OFF
The Infolinks off tag

turns off the script. Place it just before the section of text in which you do not want InText ads. You should put the Infolinks on tag
when you want to turn the script on again (when you want ads to appear). Android App + App Service

Going forward I’ll be more active with blogging and will concentrate on writing about business ideas, entrepreneurship and startups. Will also continue writing about tools to run business and online marketing and online sales.

Today we’re excited to announce the release of our android application. It has a clean look and feel and has minimalist and straightforward options.

A user interface is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it’s not that good.

We had built this app some months back and had distributed it privately to some of our readers/friends and checked with them constantly for their feedback. After using the app for 10 days they said they are more likely to read the articles via the app than directly from the website. Mobile app display felt more comfortable for most of the users and hence we made some minor changes after getting real users feedback and today we are excited to release the app for everyone to download and take maximum advantage of it.

You can download our app from Google Play Store.

1. Has a list of 8 recent articles on the homepage and user can navigate to older blog posts.
2. Clear reading experience with bigger fonts on article page.
3. Facility to bookmark the article and read later from bookmarks section.
4. Cache the recently viewed article for offline reading.
5. List of pages.
6. Search facility.
7. List posts based on Category.
8. List posts by author/contributor.
9. Invite others to our app via WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, SMS, Email.
Option to rate the app.
10. Facility to directly share the posts and pages with others from inside the app via – WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Email etc.

I’ll build your WordPress sites android application for you. You can see more about it at Android App Service For Your Blog
