YouTube recently added the Interactive Transcript feature, which uses speech recognition technology to automatically generate the transcript.

This is a easy clue that, Google would use this data to list videos for the keywords used in the video.

Step 4: Under “Info and Settings” tab, broadcasting and sharing options -> Click on “Advertising Option”.
Now Enable:
Allow InVideo advertising for this video.
Allow AdSense overlay advertising for this video.
Allow Instream advertising for this video.

Enable Standard Instream for ads
Enable TrueView Instream for ads

Step 5: Now follow the same procedure for all the videos, individually.

For lengthy videos we can even enable: Pre-roll ads and Post-roll ads and can specify the time of appearance of these ads on our video. And this is treated as allocating the ad slot on our video time line.

CPC or CPM ads?
There are lot of confusion among YouTube partners about their earnings. I have seen people asking about the ad type and the match between their YouTube views and the number of impressions and earnings in their adsense account!

But I find it quite simple. The number of views in your YouTube account and the number of impressions in your adsense account need not be same. As most of the text based ads which are shown on your videos are not counted towards impressions. So these numbers usually vary a lot.

Instream ads and pre-roll, post-roll ads are basically CPM ads and you can expect very good returns if you have viral video or valuable videos that people are already watching.

Ads or No Ads
It depends on what kind of stuffs you are sharing. If you are uploading shit load of crap, then ofcourse the viewers will get even more pissed off by these Standard Instream ads, TrueView Instream ads, Pre-roll ads, post-roll ads and whatever. But if you are providing valuable content for free, then your viewers would surely be happy for you, as you earn while they learn from you.

And these ads may not be suitable if you are producing short videos. Imagine how it feels to watch ads for 15 seconds for a video of 30 to 50 seconds. Doesn’t quite look good, right?

Listen too much or too little, you would fail. Do your research, apply your mind:
People who usually say NO ADS are the once who have full ad in their video i.e., they might have a product and the video may be a pitch to it. So these people usually get on to YouTube trying to sell their shit, so they resist other ads and advice others also stay away from those silly looking cheap ads.
Having our own product is nice for income. But I still find ads as a good source of income. And I love the idea of sponsorship, wherein we give everything for free, help people, and these sponsors or advertisers pay us for our hard work, our viewers get value, advertisers get exposure, we get to make some money for our effort: and it helps us keep the service free. Win-Win-Win.

Haven’t seen Instream ads ?
These Instream ads won’t run in all countries all the time. My guess is, it does run most of the times in United States, United Kingdom, Australia etc. But when there are high paying advertisers in any country these Instream ads start showing up(geo-targeting), hence your earnings go up.

For Example, in India, Bollywood is a big industry. When there is big banner movie coming up, they highly invest in YouTube ads and hence we see these Instream ads show up often. We just have to enable this and watch for the increase in revenue $$

On Time YouTube Partner Payment

If you participate in the YouTube Partner Program, your account receives revenue from two different types of advertising. One type is served by Google AdSense and the second is served directly by YouTube. Because of this, you will see two earnings entries per month within your AdSense Payment History. One entry will include earnings from AdSense for Content Host and any other Google AdSense product you may use, while the second entry will include earnings from YouTube.

Previously YouTube earnings payout took 60 days, but from now you can enjoy the benefit of early payouts!

Yesterday I received this email from YouTube:

Hey Partner,

You probably noticed in the past that monthly YouTube earnings payments occurred on a different timeline (about 60 days after they were earned) than AdSense earnings payments (about 30 days after they were earned). We are excited to announce that starting this month and moving forward, payments from both YouTube and AdSense will occur on the same 30-day cycle.

What this means is that your YouTube earnings for July will arrive this month rather than next month as they would have under the former earnings payment schedule. Many partners will see a larger-than-normal payout in August since they will be receiving their June and July YouTube earnings, plus their normal (July) AdSense earnings. In September and beyond, both YouTube and AdSense earnings will be on a 30 day cycle and payouts will be back at normal levels.

Play Snake Game On Any YouTube Video!

On this cool Sunday evening I started playing some awesome online games: The 100 Best, Free Online Flash Games

After 30min, I don’t know how, but I was on YouTube watching a video! Procrastinating 🙂
It was a huge video and it needed some time to load. With this and my gaming mood, I remembered this old trick of playing Classic Snake game on YouTube. It still works!

What I do is, pause and mute the video and activate the game.

If it is something new to you
Once you are on YouTube and on the video page, simply press the arrow keys on your keyboard, and the game will be activated.
[Make sure that the focus is on the YouTube Player.]

Game Rules
This is similar to most classic Snake Games that you can find on mobile phones. The snake has to eat the twinkling dot and the snake grows(in length). The game will end if you hit the wall(edge of the YouTube player!) or if the snakes mouth touches itself!

Troubleshoot!
If you don’t see any snake after you hit the arrow keys on the keyboard, then make sure the focus is on the YouTube player. To bring the focus on the Player, click on the YouTube video Player once and press the arrow keys. This should bring up the snake game.

This doesn’t work on embedded videos, so you need to be on YouTube to play this “Snake Game”.

Snake Game can only be activated while the player is loading the video. See the above screenshot for a clue.

Upload Videos Longer Than 15 Minutes: YouTube!

Recently YouTube extended the (upload limit) video length from 10 minutes to 15 minutes for all YouTube users, it was a welcome sign for people who wanted to create lengthy video tutorial, how-to’s, entertainment videos etc.

We all know, YouTube Partner’s enjoy a lot more feature, opportunity than normal users; and why not, they bring in huge profits to YouTube and make people comeback to YouTube again and again.

To know, if your account has been enabled to upload videos longer than 15 minutes: log into your YouTube account and hit on the Upload button. Now at the top, you should see this message, if your account has been enabled:

Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes. Click the Upload button below to select a video.

if not, then you need to follow all the rules and wait some more time.

YouTube Promoted Videos
Another new thing added is, a link to YouTube Promoted Videos section, where you can promote any of your videos to target audience and pay only when people click on your videos. Well, this is a old thing for people who are familiar with YouTube advertising. But for those who had no clue about the videos that were displayed in the right hand side of their YouTube homepage, will now come to know that they are promoted videos! Every user has a link in their profile’s “Account Settings” to promote their videos now, making it more transparent.

New AdSense Ad format(s) – YouTube, Twitter Integration

We have seen Adsense ads with YouTube videos integrated, which play on the same page when clicked. But these are somewhat different in their looks, and do not play videos on the same page, instead takes the visitor to a YouTube URL which is formated like a nice landing page.

Here are some screen shots. We found these ads on our blog too and had taken screen shots a month back.

And recently we also heard of a ad format containing Twitter tweets extracted from rss feed of the advertisers twitter a/c. Here are the images:

“Google Twitter Ad” News Source(s): searchengineland and qualite.

The ad is interactive in that you can click the right and left arrows to see previous tweets from that account. You can also click on the Twitter avatar and name, plus the “Follow me on Twitter” link to be taken to that person’s Twitter URL.

The ad itself is connected to the advertiser´s Twitter account and rotates the latest tweets from this account. The only clickable parts of the ad are the logo, the Twitter-username, the text ”Follow me on Twitter” and the URL to the Twitter-profile. The goal with the ad format is to recruit more followers for the advertiser´s Twitter-profile.

Update: We found these ads ourselves on Google’s social networking site – Orkut. I have tried my best to capture the video.



Google has not officially said anything specifically about these ad formats, but it is said to have been testing some new ad formats to help advertisers get better exposure.
