Simple and effective way to get VOTES for your article: Web Traffic

We have seen many people struggling to get Diggs, Stumbles (or votes in general ), all over the web!
Most of the time its frustrating for both the parties, the one who asks for vote and the one who is been asked to vote. If you start asking for vote continuously 100 times on twitter, then I guess everyone will unfollow you. And if you try in IM quite frequently, then chances are you will be blocked by your friends.

And one more important thing which I have observed is, if you start asking for diggs or stumbles directly on your blog(giving some incentives or otherwise), and if you start getting lot of diggs or stumbles from that page, then there is a high possibility that your blog URL will be blocked by those services.

So the best way to get more votes with less effort is: Make use of RSS Signature plugin. And politely ask for a Digg or stumble.
Digg AND stumbleupon
Why is this effective?
If people have subscribed to your blog, it is most likely that they get some value out of it and they will be more generous to vote for you when compared to search engine visitors or random visitors.
And it does not take a lot of their time. Just click the link and then hit the thumbs up or digg button. But take care that, you ask votes for only those stories which deserves their time and that one click. And ask only when it is needed. Do not always have a message to vote for some story. This will surly make readers blind to that particular message. To avoid this, ask for the votes only when there is a high quality article and which is already getting good response from your readers.

Do you think it works?
Yes. And this works best with Stumbleupon, than with DIGG. If you have 1000 subscribers out of which 100 to 200 people have stumbleupon account and if 30 to 60 people like the article and hit the thumbs up button, then the story will become popular in stumble and many more other stumbleupon users will be presented with the same story. And there is more chances that they will also like it, as almost 30 to 60 people have already liked it, so I guess it would be a good article. So you may get even more thumbs up. Making the story even popular.

Using this technique may help with Digg stories, if you have more followers who are active in Digg.

Why will this footer message work?
If we have the same message in the article, then also it will be read by our regular readers, then whats the need of RSS signature message — This is a good point.
But to get votes of most of the regular readers you need to make the message more clear and personal. Make it clear to the subscribers that you are asking for votes only with subscribers. Make the message as personal as possible and you will get more votes.
If you ask for votes generally in the article, then chances are that it will generally be neglected.

One Silly commonsense tip 🙂
After activating the plugin and composing a good personalized message, just don’t sit and expect hell lot of votes. Instead write an article, so that it gets delivered to their inbox or RSS reader. So that they open your article there and notice your vote request 🙂

Traffic Strategies PART 4: Promote stories which link to you

Digg, stumble, (share/Vote) those stories on the web which link to your blog homepage or to any of your articles. Vote for it, if its really interesting. If its just a bulk link back to many sites, then you will be hurting your reputation by voting or sharing such stories, as it will not be an interesting thing for others to read(in social book marking sites).
Following this strategy, you get traffic indirectly to your blog. Atleast people will read your blog title or URL in the article you Digg or stumble or Buzz! or to whatever site you submit the story. This brings their attention towards your website URL or its name, the next time when they see your blog title/name or URL(which seems to be familiar to them).
Google-blog-search
And its also good for your Digg, Stumble, Buzz etc profiles, if you submit stories from different URLs.. As all these networking sites have some tracking systems to track the self promotion and they may even ban or suspend(temporarily or even permanently) your blog URL(and not just your profile!) for submitting all the stories from your own blog.

Following this strategy would increase the (referral visitors) visitors trust level as someone is linking to you, and there is every chance of them becoming your loyal readers, if they like your blog for some reasons.

This strategy is not a “get heavy traffic over night” trick. This will bring in some quality readers to your blog over time.

This is one of the strategies that has worked so well on our blog. And be cautious while submitting stores that link to your blog. See that you don’t over do it and/or only submit stories when someone links to you. This will surly annoy your followers in social book marking sites as well, and you may endup with no followers.

Be smart, use this strategy once in a while and be active in all sites where you share/promote good stories on the web.

And please remember that, you are asking questions to a “Celebrity Blogger”. Don’t just ask – How to install wordpress? What is your blog income ? What is RSS? etc. Please just don’t ask such questions. You can ask such questions in some forums and get the solutions to your problems.

Ask questions, seeing which the “Celebrity Blogger” should feel like answering them happily and he should also feel good for giving the interview.

You can ask questions like – how you spend your day, personal hobbies and interests, life before blogging, blogging life, where you want to see your blog in next 5 or 10 years time? etc.

Keep in mind that, your questions should be useful to other readers also.

We will include your questions while interviewing the “Celebrity Bloggers”. And we will give you full credit for asking good questions. We will write a special article(with link Love) to thank all people who give us a good question to ask.

And please do not ask for the name of the “Celebrity Blogger”, because this will dilute the thrill and more over the interview is not only for one “Celebrity Blogger”, we will use some of your questions to interview some more “Celebrity Bloggers” in the future. While asking questions, think that, you are asking the question to someone who has achieved a big thing in his life and he is good and famous.

Yahoo Buzz! is now open to everyone.

Yahoo-buzz-logo-tmAre you banned from Digg? Are you an active person in sites like Digg, stumble ?

If you said yes, then you have a Happy news. As said in the title of this article, Yahoo Buzz! is now open to everyone. Previously it was a closed Beta.

Now without wasting much of your time..I will tell some of the points and you can hurry to grab the Buzz Button.

1. Its an Digg like site of Yahoo!.

2. Believed to be the most powerful (more than Digg — Tested).

3. As almost all net users have an YahooMail Id, many people can Vote for your story on Yahoo Buzz!, than on Digg, stumble etc.

4. Yahoo Buzz! site is looking clean and easier to use than any other Social Bookmarking site.

5. The featured article will be displayed on “Yahoo.com” and not just on “buzz.yahoo.com”.

6. Its now open for everyone.

Now Go Grab the Buzz button. And Buzz my stories also, if you find anything interesting in Technotip.org!

orelse here is a small work around for wordpress blogs…

<script type="text/javascript">
  yahooBuzzArticleHeadline = "<?php the_title(); ?>";
  yahooBuzzArticleSummary = "<?php the_excerpt() ?>";
  yahooBuzzArticleType = "text";
  yahooBuzzArticleId = window.location.href;
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
  src="http://d.yimg.com/ds/badge2.js"
  badgetype="text-votes">
</script>

This code will get the Title, URL, and the excerpt of your article automatically to the Yahoo Buzz site, instead of manually inserting all these details.

And change “text-votes” to “square” or “small-votes” or “medium-votes” or “large-votes” or “logo” or “text” or “small” or “medium” or “large” to change the button type.

If you are using Blogspot, then remove these yahooBuzzArticleHeadline = “< ?php the_title(); ?>“; yahooBuzzArticleSummary = “< ?php the_excerpt() ?>“; two lines, and use the code. I think it will work. I have not tested it on Blogspot, but still hope it works fine. If anyone of you have tried this, then please confirm us, by leaving a comment below this article.
