This is a quick post or rather “quick fix” post.
If you are on HostGator shared hosting plan, then please check your blog. Today some of the HostGator customers reported that their WordPress posts, comments and almost everything went missing.
When we contacted one of the hostgator support team member, we came to know that it might have been due to a software upgrade at hostgator and not a hack.
Note: Only some customers have been effected by this.
If you are facing this problem, then simply log into your hostgator cpanel. Click on MySql Databases icon.
Now select the database where your WordPress has been installed and hit Repair DB.
This should fix the problem. If not, you will have to restore the site with the latest backup.
Our blog was fixed by using the Repair option and now its working fine.
It happened to me and my friend wordpress blog. We were scared good thing we have a web dev friend who helped us out and fixed it.
I had the same problem with my posts and comments just today, and after a slight freakout, I tried this and it worked. Do you know if Lunarpages hosting had the issue? I want to make sure my blog wasn’t hacked.
Thanks!
@fanboy, Good to know that your friend could fix the problem for you.
@Hilary, Glad to know that it worked for you.
And I am not sure if any other hosting company had this issues as well. When I contacted HostGator, they told me that – it was due to an upgrade to their system and its not a hack.
Hmm, I’ll try to ask them. In the meantime I have a current backup.
Thank you SO much!
