@uday, yes those auto-play videos are particularly annoying.

@George Serradinho, Nice to see your blog load fast now. The point of this article is, find out the less used and less important things on your blog and get rid of them, and retain/focus only on those which are essential and used most by your users.

Some nice points you listed. I have a few social icons on the posts for users to share, but they are small and don’t take to much space. I also cleaned up my sidebar and just have a RSS subscribe, recent posts, google search, some banners and then popular posts (nothing more). I have however put some widgets in my footer at the bottom, takes less space and give a better overall look.

I also use to show my tweets in a widget, but removed it as it does not really benefit my blog in anyway or form.

great Puzzling post.
I agree with most parts and i hate those Video ads on most media sites. Google adsense ads in the side bar do look good to an extent and i guess all bloggers should make use of this.
